Let's say you lucked into a situation and punched way above your weight class and got given a guaranteed amount of money worth $75M across the next 10 years.

Do you have any incentive to stress yourself out for years on end to deliver a quality product? Or if you can be bought out for the equivalent of what is owed to you, regardless of performance outside of intentional sabotage, do you just give enough effort to get fired/let go and still paid?

I mean, sports is damn near the only industry where you can be given guaranteed money worth tens of millions.

Sports and CEO of big companies.

me? no. i would gladly take 75 million and fuck around.

if i were an athlete i would probably try. i wouldn't have become a world class athlete without wanting to become one and having some kind of ultra competitive alpha drive to succeed/win. and you see lots of free agents have plenty of success so yeah

Yes, absolutely.

Unless I want to live the rest of my life off of $10 million, I want to do well and keep that money rolling in.

And, yes, I know that ten million is more than I would ever live to make doing what I do for a living. But if I have millions of dollars, I imagine that would mean changing my lifestyle. That means more financial output and more financial input would be required.

I only ask because it's the only realistic scenario I thought of, and most professional athletes have crazy drive to win and compete to begin with. They could also be playing for a better future contract, same for whatever else this applies to.

For me, if I stumble on this deal with some dumb job then I'll probably so the bare minimum and be done with it.

Depends on the work. If it's some billion dollar company CEO job then I would be as lazy as possible.

If it's something like sports, I'd try my best just for my own pride.

It depends on if I was proud about whatever it was I was doing. Sports? I'd give it my all. A position as an oil CEO? I'd do my best to dismantle the company / convert it to green energy.
