I say this as someone who absolutely prefers Alien over Aliens. Although looking through the topic, it seems like a lot of people misunderstood the topic. TC is looking for franchises where there is a clear consensus that the first one is the best, and people who disagree are outliers. A lot of people seem to be just expressing that they have a strong opinion about the first one being better, regardless of whether there is much of a consensus about it. Four is a decent step up from three but people are still mixed on it overall, still a fun time. Rocky was a movie about a man, and that's what made it special. The others are fun, but Rocky touches your soul in a way the others can reach. Many times, sequels are mandated, and at that point, even if good, you can tell where they had to go through the motions of it, or it just doesn't snap as well together. When you first create something, there are so many possibilities, so much energy, so much excitement. Afterwards, you are bound by the limitations you gave yourself from the original source material.
