The combat is super fun, but getting to the combat is such a slog. Every area feels like it splits off into 3 other areas that each have their own mini-areas. Often times I find myself hoping that an area would end already, not because I'm bored of it, but because I'm bored of leaving it for yet another branching path. I look shit up to make sense of it only to find out I'm missing a bunch of shit because I didn't look into some random corner in one of these areas.

I'll probably put up with it, but man does it make me appreciate games that just throw you into a standard level to level approach

Yeah not sure where you're going with this. The only real branching path is Senpou and even then it doesn't let you fight the boss until you refight Genny.

It's barely less linear than DS3.

Sekiros level style was fucking perfect

mostly linear but with some branching paths is the ideal open world

idt nonlinear is the right word, but I definitely got lost in sekiro for hours each session. but then again I have that problem in all from soft games
