Seems like it could just winden the divide, with hourly workers working 20% more or making 20% less.

I can't see America both shortening the work week AND increasing wages for hourly workers.

a 32 hour workweek with the same pay would correct a number of shortfalls in our current system, for the time being.

Are we going to get that? No. So it's another round of arguing over livable wage/inflation/productivity again.

It's also not universally applicable, unfortunately, since not every industry is as rife with performative productivity as the office-job sector - You're not going to magically need less muscle to stock shelves, build things, or be front-facing staff.

For me it aint the hours, its the days. Id take four 10 hour work days so I get an extra day every week to myself.
