It's an 8/10 with 10/10 highs and 5/10 lows. Loved it.

Yep those are the low spots. The lack of any customization / repetition and the arduous side quests are loooooooooooow.

But damn, I loved the story and music. I liked the gameplay, even if it did wear out it's welcome, but I'm not a big action game guy so I had enough fun with it.

This more or less, except IMO the highs were 12/10s and the lows were 1/10s.

I ended up being unable to finish it because I just couldn't stomach another few hours of boring-ass filler and side quest-level main story progression. Which really sucks because I LOVED the peaks.

I don't think it feels unfinished, it felt like a very complete game. The design decisions were just...odd. And I think that is because of it being the director of FF14. MMO's have just junk ass quests most of the time, and maybe he thought it felt like that would translate to this.

The ending is one of the bigger peaks in the game imo. Finishing an arc and then having to deal with busy work garbage like Mid's Ship is arduous as hell. But pushing through it you still get some real awesome stuff. I really, really liked the ending all the way through.

It doesn't feel unfinished, but it is lacking mechanics that I wish had a lot more depth.

The RPG elements, crafting, party members etc felt unfinished. Like they wanted more systems in play but decided not to pursue them for who knows what reasons. Time probably

I don't think so, I think this was all by design. I do wish they went more of a FF7R style of party customization / control, but it's pretty clear they wanted this to be Clive's story and only Clive's. There are numerous times where it's just him and Torgal (which you have an extremely small limit of control over), everyone else was secondary to the main plot.

I think they added in the crafting and weapons for...idk why. It's useless. They did it just so they can say it has it. It's not unfinished, it's just unnecessary.

In this day and age I was pleasantly surprised with the zero amount of glitches and bugs I experienced. Felt like a proper polished AAA game. And I just really liked the game, if it wasnt for BG3 itd probably be my goty

Hmm this is pretty accurate, I so wish it had those missing RPG and customization options, it would have made replaying a lot better. But as is I just get bored trying to get through NG+, not enough new and satisfying progression/RGP elements to keep it interesting.

I've moved off of a 9/10 down to an 8/10. I still think it's a really great game, but I wish there were some major characters that were developed a little more and that the RPG mechanics had more depth. I did have a ton of fun all the way through my NG+ hard difficulty play through and score attack mode, but now that I've done pretty much everything there is to do in the game I don't see myself picking this up and playing it again for a while.

That is probably the best way to describe the game. Still if you are gonna let me control 1 character, at least give me multiple weapon types

Whether it's unfinished or not, the crafting is such dogshit and it feeds into the rewards because rewards for quests will be just useless crafting bullshit

In a time when people have been critical about crafting in games, it's probably the worst use of it and the worst thing about the game. All of the components are obtained in the quests, are linear upgrades, and many of them can be bought. And there's no reason to go look for ingredients because you already have them.

Yeah the "crafting system" was really that in name only. I did enjoy the game though and it's my favorite mainline since 10. That said it could use some work especially with the side quests.

What's weird is that in NG+ crafting opens up a bit and it's at least slightly closer to making sense. Its still not great, but there's reasons to bounce around and use different swords because of resources available in upgrading them. Even the accessories upgrade.

Why that type of thing wasn't put into the first playthrough is unknown

I think that this is an underapprapreciated aspect of the game. Other than a small day 1 patch, there were no glitches or bugs in the game. It was very much a polished, finished product.

30 FPS in Performance Mode notwithstanding.
