It's tough but I think the OG RE4 is slightly better overall, with Ada and Salazar having a hand in that.

The remake is really good and I like the fact you can finally wear your bomber jacket the whole time and can keep all the NG+ weapons in storage. But OG just has that charm to it and is more fun

afaik NOPE. It has the Chicago Typewriter (called the Chicago Sweeper I think) and the Hand Cannon, but not the laser. It also exchanged the Mine Thrower for the Bolt Thrower which is an improvement

That's a tough one. Nostalgia wants me to say the OG, but the Remake was pretty good imo. I could see myself playing Remake more, probably more times than I played the OG.

Like it's honestly kinda weird because OG Ashley feels more platonic and then out of nowhere is like "SO DO YOU WANNA FUCK THO!?" at the end.

Meanwhile, REmake Ashley is way WAAAAY more flirty to Leon but then says nothing about being DTF at the end. Those halves should've been switched somewhere I feel like >_>

Remake and it isn't close

The people voting OG likely haven't played it in yonks.

Constant shittiny QTEs, long boring dull corridor sections, the dump truck section, clunky controls, having to open the menu every time you want to switch weapon, Ashley is annoying and escorting her sucks.

I replayed OG RE4 in the run up to REmake and it just doesn't hold up. Game Design has moved on since 2004 and pretty graphics aren't enough anymore.

Aside from the stance of "I prefer the goofy cartoon atmosphere that made no sense to the remake's more serious tone." which is fair nuff. There's really nothing the OG did better.

Edit: Also the OG had a better Ada VA.

The REmake improved everything. The attention to detail and replay value is through the roof.

wat? Ashley is fine in OG. If anything, it's more annoying in RE4make cuz you cant make her stay anywhere. I do like the health regen system for her more though

I love the OG. I haven't played RE4make yet but everything I've seen shows it's higher quality.

Oh yeah and they nerfed the Red9 which was a favourite pistol of all games.

The removal of laser sight for most weapons was also kinda shit. Don't like the new aiming system. Leon is a trained special agent. He shouldn't need to stand still for like 2 seconds for the crosshair to close to shoot where he wants.

At least make the gun always shoot in the center but still have the crosshair initially wide so it's harder for us users to see but if you are good enough, the gun is still accurate to the center.

What we have is all rng.

I loved OG when it was new on GCN, then double dipped for the Wii version and enjoyed it even more.

Since then though, any time I try to replay it I don't get very far. I always lose interest somewhere in the village, usually just before or after the lake boss fight.

I've been on the fence about giving the remake a shot, but I worry I'll just lose interest again. I downloaded the demo but then never played it lol. Maybe I should start there.

Lol but anyway I think now I prefer the remake but at the time the OG came out it was one of my favorite games probably ever but it's just unplayable to me now.

That said, I think I prefer the VR edition over the other two now that was a lot of fun

OG was a 10/10 game when it launched. More like an 8.5/10 these days, so still very good.

The remake is a 7/10 at launch and a 7.5/10 with a paid update. When its been out as long as the OG has, I doubt it will be faring very well.

OG RE4 did set the world on fire when it came out though and was a big revolution in 3rd person shooting and horror. The RE4make is a really good game, but it didn't have the impact that OG did when it came out.
