I remember getting it for Christmas that year and being stuck at the Deku Tree for 3 days, and then crying when he died LOL.

I never seen death in a video game before so 8yo babby Neon was sad. But I got over it and enjoyed the rest of the game. Yes I was stuck at the Water Temple for over a month.

I hung out at Babbages at the mall waiting for it to get there on launch day. They didn't have new games in the back several days before that, and you just had to wait for the truck to get there the day they came out.

Preorders got a gold cartridge, and some dude came by and seriously tried to trade his car for one. Even at 13 years old, I knew that was dumb.

Yeah, and its been showing its age for quite a while now.

I stayed past midnight on christmas eve to finally play it. Turned out my older brother was already playing it by taking the casette out and putting it back in the box. I used my brothers file and he was on kakariko village at night. I go to graveyard and experience the redeads. After that I hear some sounds upstairs and got real scared and turned the game off. I was 11.

Back in the 90s people were super convinced that "collectible" toys would become super valuable one day. Think beanie babies. Same reason people were camping outside toy stores buying up all the Darth Maul figures every morning after a restock.

I do remember the Beanie Babies craze. That shit was dumb. I did have a cheap one but I remember seeing some stores selling them for like $150 and was like wtf

I remember I got the game for Christmas, except I didn't, because some kid had stolen my copy of Pokemon Blue on the bus and to punish me for "losing" it my parents told me they'd gotten me the game for Christmas but I had to wait until my birthday in March.

Good times! The game, not my parents lmao.

As memories before I was 4/5 are non-existent, OoT is in that category I call my first "games" along with Super Mario 64, Super Mario Sunshine, Paper Mario, and probably another game or two I'm forgetting.

I had no idea what I was doing, and could never beat any dungeons by myself, so it was mainly just cluelessly walking around Hyrule field, Kakariko village, and Hyrule city (someone must have gotten past the forest temple for me as I certainly did not do that myself).

That was gaming in general, though, for me.

I replayed it and MM in January. Still one of my favorite games, but I'd rank ALttP and TWW higher these days. Probably BotW and ToTK too.
