If he's doing this genuinely, I guess that depends on what this particular incarnation of Kingpin is like. There have been times where he's been a Vito Corleone type who holds power and does evil things, but isn't 100% evil. Then there are other times where he'd laugh if he watched puppies drown. Kingpin murdered Maya's father and as a bizarre last wish, he asked Kingpin to adopt his daughter and take care of her. So he did, but he also manipulated the hell out of Maya to get her to do his bidding. ~~In Hawkeye, Kingpin convinced Maya that it was Hawkeye that murdered her father, in an attempt to have her murder Hawkeye for him.
