I'm basically a reverse teacher and I have winters off because I work at a kitten nursery and there are barely any kittens when it's cold out.

I also don't get paid like teachers, and have to just do unemployment. Better than nothing I guess.

I have two mature cats. They are sisters. They have never really got along. One of them is kinda mean and the other is super affectionate. Should I introduce a kitten.

Please consider adopting a cat from your SPCA or local animal shelter.

I don't think it will hurt them, and the affectionate one may enjoy a new friend. However, most established resident cats will likely react negatively to a new animal, unless they are historically used to other animals. When introducing a kitten, you should also take a slow and gradual approach. Don't even let them see one another for a few days to weeks. They should be kept completely separated in order for them to get used to the smell, as the first interactions should be with a door in between. Look up scent swapping.

Sure, come to NYC.

Only stray kittens, either from rescuers, the city shelter, or good samaritans.

No cats, but I work at a large animal welfare organization who also house and care for adult cats and dogs. I just specifically work at the kitten facility since they have specific needs and challenges.

Lol, no breeding. We have enough strays here already.

I just found cats outside my house. They're living under a covered car. It's a mom and I believe 4 kittens. Not sure what I should do about them. My neighbor fed them so they're probably not going anywhere unless I trap them and...? not sure what to do with them at that point. My understanding is shelters kill them after a while? Gf won't have that, especially because she met the mom and she's sweet. Taking them in isn't an option. I guess trapping them and listing them for adoption is the move but idk how to trap them, or how to keep them until they're picked up. What if nobody ever gets them?

A variety of vocalizations.

Yeah, it's kind of weird but I'm basically guaranteed to be rehired. It's a full time but seasonal position. I kind of feel like a NEET but I also enjoy my time off because I get to travel.

Having mom around is probably the best thing for the well being of the kittens. Are you feeding mom? I would just offer a litterbox, bedding, and food. The kittens will be nursing with her until they are around 4-5 weeks of age, at which point they can begin eating solid food.

Shelter euthanasia is not just a blanket yes or no thing, it depends where you are, and the needs of the animals. Kittens can be separated from mom between 8-12 weeks, and if you can surrender them to a shelter that would be best since kittens are highly adoptable. You can certainly try to place them yourself but be sure to vet people. Mom should be spayed once the kittens are weaned, so you can look up TNR programs in your area, or try to surrender her to a shelter. Some shelters will take in queens with moms as well, as mine does, but again this is very location dependent. Since mom isn't a feral, she would be able to be admitted.
