For anyone who did a double take at who is sponsoring the bill, this wouldn't stop dark money going into the GOP. He is specifically going after "woke" corporations making donations.

Hawleys new bill, called the Ending Corporate Influence on Elections Act, is aimed at reversing the Supreme Courts 2010 Citizens United decision that loosened campaign finance laws an effort that aligns the conservative Missouri Republican with many Democrats. Hawleys bill would ban publicly traded corporations from making independent expenditures and political advertisements and ban those publicly traded companies from giving money to super PACs.

Never in a million years passing the House, won't even be put to a vote, presenting this bill now is just for show.

Basically this bill would stop donations from publicly traded corporations but NOT from non-profits, which is where the real dark money that went into things like overturning Roe comes from. Republicans are getting their asses handed to them with respect to publicly traded corps donating to campaigns, that's the only reason he is doing this.

According to multiple sources familiar with the Tuesday lunch meeting, McConnell warned GOP senators that they could face incoming from the center-right if they signed onto Hawleys bill.

Incoming from the rich who want to buy and sell politicians, Mitch, not the average American. Even your own base will support Hawley on this, assuming your mouthpieces on Fox News can't control the narrative.

He's right. Russia is absolutely backing Hamas.

Smart. Losing a big vote and getting rebuked by the Republican minority leader of the other chamber of Congress right out of the gate.

That article really illustrates how deplorable the GOP truly is. Hawley wants tighter reform, McConnell doesn't, because his PAC helped elected Republicans including Hawley, and Hawley hates McConnell because McConnell sided with Schumer on Israel/Ukraine funding.

I hope this passes and McConnell tries to primary Hawley in response.

Hawley just wants to take away the ability of companies to fund political campaigns since theyre woke and dont want to fund him.

It has nothing to do with reform.

This. Congress has shown it has absolutely zero interest in turning off the dark money tap.

But how can they fight each other? CE told me they were hive-minded.

I guess one of them must've had a glitch in their programming. <_<

Good let them fight among themselves. Sadly the bill wont go anywhere, but it points things out still.
