I'd seen pieces of it, and in fact much of the third act, when I was a kid, but haven't had a proper sit-down-and-watch-the-dang-thang until last night.

Adam and Barbara are just the cutest and such a positive example of an introverted couple. They obviously don't do a lot of social stuff, but they're so comfortable with each other. If the movie were made 30 years later, Adam would be into gaming and Barbara would... probably also be into gaming lol.

Winona Ryder looked a lot older than her 17 years suggested, like mid-twenties, but I guess some teens just look old, or maybe it was just the makeup.

There's not a single piece of scenery that Michael Keaton didn't chew in that film. Like I'm more familiar with the animated series and even that BJ is more subdued than Keaton.

I also watched Beetlejuice last night for the first time. Loved it. I totally don't know how or why I didn't see it thirty years ago.

It's huge right now. I like it. It's fun watching people react to your favorite movies, and you get to rewatch the highlights. People do them alone or with others. Here's one of my favorites reacting to Beetlejuice

One of the greatest. Love this movie, so weird and stylish. And Catherine O'Hara is a god damned treasure in anything she does.

I'm surprised by the number of people that haven't seen it in this topic. HIGHLY recommended on this Halloween evening!

I have actually taken to watching people's reactions to older movies as a sort of rewatch. Stuff like "first time watching Monty Python/Princess Bride/Galaxy Quest" kinda thing.

It's so weird to go from the movie where BJ (and isn't that an unfortunate nickname) is a creep trying to marry an underage girl to the cartoon where they're just casually hanging out as friends.

Its hard to believe its been 35 years. I was a big fan of Winona Ryder from 2 years earlier in a movie I loved called Lucas. Between Beetlejuice, and over the next couple years Great Balls of Fire! and Edward Scissorhands I had a full blown crush on her. Shes about 4 years older than me. Still like her to this day.

Normally Im hesitant about remakes or sequels in modern Hollywood but Im looking forward to Beetlejuice 2 next year. I have a feeling it will be handled right with the right people involved.

Yeah that was a weird switch. Then again k, they turned traumatized, anti-social John Rambo into the leader of a SOF unit that stopped terrorists and taught kids morals on a Saturday morning cartoon in the 80s. It was kind of like GI Joe but with Rambo (and far less interesting characters, though James Avery did voice one of his squad members).
