Is there actually a concern that the steam deck would become underpowered in the next year or so?

Underpowered for what? You probably shouldn't get the Steam Deck if you want to play new AAA games across the next few years. It's still a mobile device at the end of the day.

It works fine for most crossgen games though yeah.

Na, I don't plan on playing any recent AAA titles. Going to be mainly older games for sure. I actually just got the WB humble bundle for the Arkham Night games. I have a lot of stuff to go through

Easiest tip I ever learned for my Steam Deck performance:
All 3D games I play tend to work fine on deck when capped @30 fps

Steam has a built in streaming feature and Moonlight is great although discontinued

As long as its docked to your TV and youve got a controller connected to it either via Bluetooth or via the dock, yes.

As to whether you can stream from your PC and have the deck cast it to your TV while using the deck as a controller, I dont know, as I havent tried that.

You can definitely do that on a Windows handheld (or laptop or desktop for that matter), provided you have something that can receive the wireless display signal (which may be the TV itself if it's a smart TV). I would be very surprised if Steam Deck's OS doesn't support some form of this feature but can't say for sure.

It looks like you can install the Steam Link app on your TV and that will do it as long as theyre on the same WiFi network.

I have one and I love it. My main gripe is trying to get non-steam games working on it.

I have a bunch of GOG games and even using the Heroic Launcher it can be a bit of an effort to get things working properly.

Like my GOG version of Fallout New Vegas worked perfect out of the box, but the GOG version of Fallout 3 had me messing with controller profiles for 30 minutes before I could finally get the left stick to register. (A problem that nobody else online seems to have had and of which I still don't know how I fixed it since I ended up just resetting the controller profile to the default and it magically worked after the fifth time despite not working the first lol)

Oh actually my other main gripe is that there's no dedicated screenshot button. Not an issue if I'm using my Nintendo Pro Controller but if I'm using the decks controls I need to do a two-button combo that's just clunky to press in the split second moments you might want to do a screenshot, and might mess up the shot anyway since the game uses those same buttons for other inputs <_<

Pressing the steam button and R1 is not that clunky to take a screenshot IMO.
