Online dating has made things a lot worse but for a lot of people, whats a better alternative? I pride myself on being a pretty damn good conversationalist and not being boring but before I gave up on dating altogether Id constantly get ghosted. Its very discouraging.

Getting ghosted blows but it's only more common for online users because of the sheer number of interactions.

You'll get one eventually my guy. I'm an overweight nerd who can't afford to live alone but even I found someone on Hinge.

Just keep working on yourself, if you're not happy alone, you won't be after the honeymoon phase is over with someone else.

Im not counting it out altogether but theres a lot working against me. Ive got overlapping physical/mental health issues and an irreversibly-bad financial situation that makes things very difficult; plus a lot of trauma from being in two consecutive relationships full of emotional abuse.

If I put in 110% effort towards getting my shit halfway together, Ill be way too old. I turned 30 earlier this year and I understand the older you get the more difficult it gets. I have my advantages as Im decent looking and not socially awkward, but everything else weighs it all down.

Then again, I remember it being a fever dream like series of nonsensical, barely connected or even relevant events so it might have some appeal to some.

It actually becomes easier as you get older if you dont mind being with a divorcee with kids. Im not saying their standards drop, but their priorities change from the spontaneous fun type to the dependable type they can trust and build something with.

This is really discouraging. Im a realist and understand my worth as a man, especially given my age. It sounds silly to even have hope at finding a genuine connection or love at this point. I know it comes off as a little pathetic.

If you get with a divorcee with kids, you're not expected to become the new father or anything necessarily.

I dont know if this is me coming off as entitled but ideally Id want someone who is understanding and mindful of what I struggle with. I cant imagine running into anyone who would be bothered to be burdened with that, especially since theres no financial incentive.

I already know I dont have much worth as a human being given my current situation but Im terrified that given how long itll take for me to improve, itll be too late.

Im aware of my good qualities but as far as my financial situation and prospects, that all makes me worthless. Its not nice but thats just the world we live in. If you dont have your finances in order and arent capable of X, Y, Z, you dont have worth.

Mental illness and its ripple effects suck so much.

You just have to accept that as you get older, the dating scene changes. If you cant adjust your expectations to the new reality, Im not sure what to say. Single, mid 30s women with no kids looking to date are going to be few and far between.

I'm not gonna settle for someone, in the same way I wouldn't want someone to settle for me. I'll be realistic of course. I'll keep shooting my shot.
I forgot how common ghosting is though. I do really put myself out there though, so I don't miss anything.
