Skyrim's launch was the moment I realized I didnt like open worlds and seeing where the industry went afterwards means I sure avoided a lot of games

BotW and GTA:SA/V are probably the only open world games I've genuinely enjoyed. Loved Elden Ring as well, but mostly in spite of the world; had way more fun in dungeons

Nah, I actually love them. But. And this is a huge but. The only one I play is GTA. So I wait forever and then spend a few years getting my fix.

There are good ones like Elden Ring and Zelda, and then a ton of boring things that try to mimick Minecraft or just have mundance crafting walls
