Am I the only one who experiences this? It's only me and one other car on the road, and I'm using cruise control so my speed is the same. I can see the person steadily catching up to me in my mirror, right up until our cars are right next to each other, at which point they slow down and match my speed. What the fuck are you doing? Why would you want to be right next someone when there's nothing but open road all around us? Shit happens a lot.

It is worse when there is actual traffic beyond just the two who have decided to "wall up together."

If you are ever in this situation, and there are other cars on the road other than whoever is next to you, consider slowing down by 10 or so, even if only for 10 seconds or so, to break the wall up.

Oh, don't even get me started on that shit. I'll move over to the right and the person behind me just ends up hanging out next to me for no reason.

There has been a severe decline in driver quality over the last 10 years. IDK if data suggest it but I sure as fuck have noticed it. Will gladly accept automatic cars.

What I see the most that pisses me off is when I am approaching an intersection of some sort. The person waiting at the road I am about to pass will nearly ALWAYS make the decision to pull in front of me and head in the opposite direction even if the distance for us to IMPACT was less than 1 second. I look in my rear view and see NO CARS. You just cleared my car by 1 second when you could've waited 5 seconds and done it safely. WHY?

Or they will then pull out in FRONT of me and just act totally oblivious. If I need to lose 50% of my speed to accommodate the fact you pulled out. You're a fucking asshole. Again, no one behind me.

I started up a car and ran it around the block just because it hasn't run in a bit. I encountered only 2 cars. Both idiots. I come up to a yield sign and the guy I am supposed to yield for stops in the middle of the road and acts totally oblivious to what I am doing. WTF are you doing? This isn't a 4way stop theres no sign where you are idiot. The next guy I pass coming out of a drive way I think to myself how much you wanna bet he is going to make the same turn as me? He does of course and then proceeds to ride my ass through a crowded subdivision.

I swear it wasn't this bad over a decade ago.

Pretty sure the situation TC mentioned is actually illegal too. That hinders the flow of traffic.

^I've noticed an influx of bad drivers all over the place within about the last decade as well. My theory is that with the way modern society is, more and more young people are waiting until after 18 to get their license and there's no need to learn at 16 anymore. Here in PA once you turn 18 you can take the permit test (which is stupidly easy) and the drivers test in the same day without any experience at all behind the wheel and without actually learning anything at all (and the drivers test here is also stupidly easily you literally drive around in a circle and park, I have no idea what other states are like)

Most frustrating one for me is nowadays the number of drivers on the highway who attempt to yield or slow down for merging traffic on the ramp when it's supposed to be the other way around is absolutely mind-numbing. I maybe used to encounter this once a year or something, now it's like a daily occurrence.

I don't have this happening to me very often, but as others have noted in the topic, I've also seen a massive increase in shitty drivers recently. From tailgating, to break checking, to people straight up driving on the wrong side of the road and acting like they have the right of way simply because they're in a hurry or don't know how to drive.

Lately it's been really bad too. I can guess why, but it has never been ad bad as it has been lately. People are legitimately suicidal out there nowadays. Road rage is everywhere for some reason.

I dont even know if they have that here with left turns. We do have double lanes to turn RIGHT at sometimes but its not common. For that very fact mentioned I never take the extra turn lane unless I absolutely need to. Since I am turning right I always take the curb lane because I expect some idiot to drive right into me from the curb lane knowing how oblivious people are I don't expect them to be aware that there IS a double turn. I just have zero trust for other drivers anymore. I've just seen too much stupidity.

Another pet peeve. People who start "rolling" out in anticipation of you passing them at an intersection/driveway. People always did this but they do it much more aggressively these days. It makes me slow down a lot now. I am just supposed to TRUST that you're not a moron who is going to plow right into me? Nah, sorry. When I see people clearing me by 1 second every single day sometimes multiple times in one trip. I have zero reason to trust you're not ACTUALLY going to pull out into or in front of me.

Same with when my light is green and theirs is red and I see them coming. People are coming damn near full speed until the final few feet before their required to stop. Again, I am supposed to trust you're not a maniac going to blow the light?

Yeah, theres a reason I haven't been in an accident and your car looks like it drove threw Ukraine.

To add to this, sometimes these assholes will do this, with no one behind me and no reason not to wait, and then fucking turn less than a minute later. I can at least get it if they think they'll be driving faster than me and don't want to be stuck behind me, but to do it and then drive slow as shit or turn almost immediately after? What the fuck.

Some people can only follow, but not lead. They'll tailgate you the whole time, but if you let them in front they'll go much slower, it's annoying.

That is precisely what I was talking about. It's like they WANT to get him. Or are so stupid they think somehow we are supposed to stop for them. I can't even imagine doing this. It makes no sense.

Yesterday I was driving my sister and my 4 month old nephew to Walmart. Someone was getting over from an on ramp and needed to either merge in front of me or get run off the road. As soon as I let the guy merge, I have some crazy person behind me tailgating as hard as possible, almost touching me, while he beeps and flips me off for like 5 straight seconds. Then almost causes another accident or three while he zips in-between cars to try and get ahead.

It's crazy out there lately.

Annoying, but the guy who just won't let you pass is worse, IMO. Probably the same driver, or a relation.

When did this "merge on the freeway going 40" shit start? I've lost count of the number of dipshits in front of me who bury the needle at about 40 and just merge into traffic going on average almost 30 mph faster. Put. Your fucking. Foot down. And go.

You know what I love? Approaching a traffic light that is green and watching it turn red and slam the door in my face because one fucking car is there waiting to turn. Yeah, they totally couldn't have waited another 5 seconds so I could clear the intersection. And meanwhile, if I'm the one car, I could watch the first half of Endgame before that fucking light changes, as I stare at empty fucking road in both directions. Also, bonus points if the one car turning is making a right turn and thus doesn't need a light change.

I agree with tc on cars pacing you. Bonus if it's on a four lane road and you're just...stuck looking at allllllll that empty road in front of them, but they're swapping recipes, so fuck your timetable.

Also, why does no one pass big rigs? They drive right up to the rear of their trailer, then they just hang out there. I know driving is scary, but if it's that scary, pull the fuck over and get out of the goddamn way.

9 times out of 10, If I have some sandbagging fuckface in front of me, I pull up alongside them at a light, and they look like they're inspecting their own crotch for crabs. Nice to know those hands-free laws are doing...oh I don't know...anything.

As if Harleys weren't obnoxiously loud enough, now these cyclists are blaring their fucking shitty radio stations at max volume while you're sitting at a light. Between them and the vroom vroom, fart can-on-my-exhaust, tires bent out to the sides like my car is sleepy "modders" and "street racers" out there thumping their shitty bass lines so hard you can see (and hear) their trunk lid rattling, so instead of "BOOOOOOOM BOOOOOOOM" you get "BOObrglglrglrglrgl BOOObrlglgrglrglrgl" it's a wonder everyone doesn't have hearing aids at 35.

Whew, that feels better. Sometimes you just have to get the venom out.

I once drove from Phoenix to Dallas, and from Phoenix to El Paso there was a SUV that would go flying by me the whole way.

They would stop all of the time I guess,I only stopped for gas and stayed at the speed limit.

Watched 2 turn lanes of cars 6 deep blow a light on the way home today. People are fucking crazy anymore.

I keep getting people who arrive at 4 way stop way before me, but then just sit there like they're expecting me to go first. Half the time it ends up with us going at the same time.

I hate when I'm casually coasting up to a stop sign, but then someone else flies up to the intersection and stops on a dime. Then you genuinely don't know who got there first. But then I wait excepting them to go. They wait expecting me to go. Then we do that stupid wave thing to say "you go first" at virtually the same time. Then we both start going. Then we both stop. Then we both do the wave thing again. Fucking Christ I'd rather the other driver just blow the stop sign in the first place

Gotta love going over the speed limit & still getting tailgated by some asshole on an empty af lane.

Seems like people driving side by side in the passing lane is at an all time high lately. The other day there was a cop in the middle lane (3 lane road) and someone driving in the left lane either right next to him or in his blind spot for several miles before I got off on my exit. That had to be annoying for everyone involved.

Completely opposite where I live. Ever since 2020 when there were less cars on the road, drivers have just ignored the "School Zone Speed Limit 35" signs. I always slow down and people are just zooming past me and drive around me (only to get stuck at the red light about 500 feet away, anyway).
