IMO even the crappiest of books/movies/games etc are "art", they're just not good art

It's like telling a 5 y/o the doodle they scrawled for you isn't "art"

I think Gamers need to lose the chip on their shoulder about their hobby. Videogames don't need the 'art' label to legitimise them.

Yes. Of course. Also to traditional 'art' media.

A painting, a sculpture are art. They may be bad art, but they are still art.

If you want videogames to be considered art, you cannot cherry pick. Ride to Hell Retribution is art, just as much as Journey.
