Didn't take long at all for the right to paint her as a victim of the Deep State (Soros).
admission of crimes means NOTHING to the modern Republican party. A lot of times, it's a badge of "honor", if anything.
Only actually following through on "betraying" Trump would get their ire.
And I maintain that as soon as Trump is dead or otherwise of no further use to them, they'll no longer care about that, either.
These plea agreements require cooperating with the prosecution though. Are these rationalizations going to hold when and if Ellis or others who have taken deals testify against Trump in court?

I answered that in my last 2 sentences.

Trump is a fat 80+ year old that has to be tricked into eating vegetables and thinks exercise depletes a limited amount of lifetime energy.
He's not going to be around that long.
A decade from now, "betraying" him won't fucking matter, because he'll no longer be useful to the GOP and they'll swivel from him so fast it'll make your head spin.

Yes and no. MAGA has permanently poisoned the well. Even after Trump dies there will be no escaping the white supremacist populism that his voters want.

And people will let his former supporters get away with it too.

Ah, I was never that dedicated to him. He was just the least worst.

Same thing that happened with GWB worshipers.

Trumpism will outlast Trump but I gotta disagree that testifying against Trump wouldn't matter for how they see Ellis in the long run. One thing these people absolutely do is hold grudges. Once she's branded a traitor against Trump that's something that's going to stick in maga world.

I'm still of the opinion that the Trump cult dies with Trump; it won't be an immediate death, but it will never retain the power it had while Trump was its living, breathing figurehead. This country has always had a fascist / white supremacist undercurrent (and sadly always will to varying degrees), but Trump is a unique figure in galvanizing it, and as of now no one comes close to being a worthy successor. It took me a while to realize it, but the dreaded 'Trump but smart / competent' figure not only has yet to surface, but the very concept is an oxymoron. Trump's swaggering silver-spoon egotism, do / say whatever I want whenever I want without consequences attitude, and self-contradicting idiocy is exactly what makes him so appealing to his base, who themselves yearn to be completely untethered by moral and intellectual responsibility, all while pretending to be superior to their enemies in both.

If you need a preview of the GOP / MAGA cult's effectiveness without a strong, central figurehead to lead them, just look at how House Republicans are currently behaving.

Yup. Cults of personality always fall apart when the personality in question is gone. All of these assholes end up fighting over who gets to fill the power vacuum and without clear directions, leadership or objectives, the cult just falls apart to infighting and self-destruction.

And the institutionalist Republicans are just looking for the right opportunity to jump off of the Trump train at this point.

Perfect example of that... The current debacle known as the vote for Speaker of the House.

I think Trumpism doesn't completely go away once Trump is gone. In some ways it already exists independent of him. Like how he praised the covid vaccines because he wanted to take credit for them, but most of the cult were not willing to go along with him on that.

I do agree though that the maga cult will fracture without Trump. Nobody's going to emerge as a single figure for them to rally around, but plenty will try. It'll be a great opportunity though for con men to grift magas out of their money even more than they're doing now.

Holy shit she's right! They could come for me next! This is awful! This...

Oh wait. I didn't storm the capitol while claiming an election was rigged with no evidence. Oh, I'm safe. Whew, what a relief!

https://coloradonewsline.com/briefs/jenna-ellis-under-investigation-again-colorado/

Jenna Ellis, the lawyer who represented former President Donald Trump as he tried to overturn the 2020 election, is under investigation by the state office that oversees attorney conduct in Colorado.
Ellis, who until recently was a Colorado resident and who is licensed to practice law in the state, was publicly censured in Colorado after a professional misconduct investigation in March, when Ellis admitted that multiple statements she made on Trumps behalf in late 2020 about the presidential election being stolen were misrepresentations.

On Tuesday she pleaded guilty in Fulton County, Georgia, to a felony charge of aiding and abetting false statements and writings. The plea came as part of a deal she struck with local prosecutors who in August named 19 defendants, including Ellis and Trump, in an election interference-related racketeering case.

Jenna Ellis' law license is in danger again. We'll have to see how this goes. She was let off with a slap on the wrist last time.

I really hope that other jurisdictions can use these guilty pleas to help build cases against these idiots in their states.
