If you could choose to add another language to your arsenal, what would you choose? Im sitting here browsing international television channels so it got me wondering.

I'm thinking maybe Arabic, although Chinese might be cool too. Spanish would probably be the most practical for me though.

Probably Spanish for everyday use - it would be the most beneficial to me. Although Id wanna learn Japanese just for nerd things.

Wanted to learn Japanese when I was going through my weeb phase as a teen/20-something.

I've already learned Korean and Portuguese (I had to forget Spanish to do so, as it's very similar).

So I guess... maybe German or Dutch?

Unless I planned on moving out of the US, Spanish is the only second language needed. I know a little and have heard Spanish speakers talking shit before. Wish I knew everything they were saying.

I go to the University trying to learn Spanish. For 8 years, and do Spanish on my
phone in Duolingo.

I've got quite a ways to go, but I'm working on learning Spanish. I'm in Texas so obviously it would be the one most useful to me... I'd be able to understand everybody in town, except for the folks at the Chinese restaurant when they're speaking Mandarin.

I've already got some Spanish, and French (German courses were full, regrettably) down on lock.

So, it would have to be either:

Russian
Japanese
Arabic

Chinese would probably be the most potentially useful, but odds are I would do fuck all with it anyway.

I already mostly forgot french.

Weeb speak and a full collection of moon runes I might actually keep fresh since I like jrpgs and character action. Doesn't matter so much with global release dates for most of the big games now.

Pretty lame, but most I would never use or forget in a couple years anyway... so one nerd culture would keep on my mind would at least be retained.

Mandarin or Spanish would probably be the most useful, but for longterm retirement and vacation plans Dutch or Papiamentu would be the most sensible for me.

I'd very much like to improve my Italian, it's fairly poor currently.

You wont ever need to speak Dutch in any country where it used to be a majority language.
