Sonic and friends are back in this Arzest developed game. You know the makers of such bangers as....Yoshi's Island DS and....Balan Wonderworld. Luckily I enjoyed this game much more than those although it's not without its faults. A fun mix of callbacks to level designs from previous 2D sonics but with new gimmicks to put a fresh spin on them. New powers for each Chaos Emerald that help with combat and traversal in various ways and most importantly the physics felt how you would expect them to so this is no Sonic 4 situation. However levels were a bit too long (I would rather have a higher amount of shorter stages) and some level design inbetween the callbacks is very cut and paste even repeating the same segments over again. Bosses are a bit hit or miss and can be quite challenging at times, but between Super Sonic and all the emerald powers I found them to be quite manageable. Not the best sonic game I've played, but also not the worst. It's just perfectly average.

Platinum has you collecting all 7 chaos emeralds, getting 100 kills with each character's special ability, getting 1000 kills overall, collecting 10,000 rings overall, playing through the game a 2nd time as the new character, Trip, and then when that's all done taking on the true final boss.

I've had Mario Wonder staring at me for over 12 hours now asking to be put into my Switch so....it's time to do that XD

Platinum ended up taking slightly longer than I anticipated because of the extra Trip playthrough and the overall difficulty of the game.

I also forgot to mention almost every stage has a golden enemy hidden somewhere in it and there's a trophy for killing them all. You have to find them and kill them and then also finish the stage on that same life. If you die once you gotta restart.
