Are they really as great as movies and shows portray them to be? Like more than say... a delectable snickers pie cake? I know I'm a fatass who stuffs his face but I'd much rather a delicious snickers dessert than sticking a needle in my arm or taking opioids.

You know what, same with booze. How do these people latch on to those things and not say, a Reese's king size peanut butter cup? Because that's my addiction and weak spot that I go out on the street and turn tricks for, not a line of powder that I put in my nose of all things.

Meth gets abused way more often but you never see anyone paint meth use as glamorous.

Have you ever taken opioids? How would you know you prefer candy over them?

They're wildly physiologically addictive. They're not glamorous, but they are as addictive as they say.

This is a good point, stuff like Breaking Bad depicted meth addicts as they typically are, missing teeth, wounds on the face, bone skinny.

I have enough experience, the only 2 drugs I won't do again are meth(because the high sucks) and heroin( because that shit is too euphoric)

I was given some Vicodin after my wisdom teeth removal. After the first one, I was like "woah, I understand the addiction now."

I took a couple more for the pain and threw the rest of that bottle in the trash. Shit felt way too good

Was given mild painkillers after an injury, but I don't think they were strong enough like vicodin from House MD, I didn't feel any of that desire or elation they were showing on TV, it was really just a chore to remember to take them before I got bored, not knowing if placebo effect or if the pain really was subsiding.

Trainspotting, Basketball Diaries, and Requiem for a Dream all show these drugs as horrific.

I have taken opioids before and didn't find them addictive. It's worth noting that some people are more vulnerable to addiction than others. I've even had morphine.

Edit: just to clarify, this was all legal
