Dont get me wrong. Both levels are excellent, but I like Sonic Adventure 1s Emerald Coast more than Sonic Adventure 2s City Escape.

I know, Im sorry.

Nothing to be sorry for. Not all SA1 stages are winners, but nothing can top the atmosphere of Emerald Coast. The music, the color palette, the sunny beaches, the relatively open environments to explore, it's all just *chef's kiss*.

It was a perfect introduction to 3D Sonic!

I think in general SA2 has higher highs and lower lows than SA1. Oh wait, SA1 has Big missions. Nevermind.

I like almost all of SA2 more than SA1, but I guess I can't fault anyone for preferring a beach level to literally any other theme. And (Sonic's) Emerald Coast is pretty fun.

I always the big missions worked with the fishing controller.

I like SA2 and Escape From the City better, but yeah, as a level, I gotta go with the beach.

Big's missions are easy as shit. You can finish all of them in probably less than 5 minutes each.

The second Emerald Coast theme is freaking amazing. It makes an otherwise lethargic type like myself long to run along the beach.

If we're talking about SA1 and SA2 levels as a whole, Final Rush > everything else.

I mean I could do that now. Because I've done it a few times. The first time I did them, especially Ice Cap, I just wandered around wondering why I'm wasting so much time in a fishing minigame that's more janky than OoT fishing and where the optimal thing to do is swim underwater everywhere to find Froggy before getting out of the water to fish Froggy. Why can't Big just grab Froggy. And why am I doing this instead of a fun Sonic level.

I dont like Bigs extra missions though. Finding a 1000 g and 2000 g fish isnt always easy going.

Ive played City Escape a trillion times, but I havent touched SA1 since 2001 on the Dreamcast.

This I can agree with.

I also prefer how Sonic controls in SA1 and SA2 compared to the more modern games. He feels much more fluid in these games and much more stiff in the more recent games.

My main gripe with the controls would be the light speed dash can feel a little inconsistent in 2, but I think that was a recurring problem in most modern games. It doesnt help that a lot of Sonic and Shadows actions were tied to one button. SA1s light speed dash worked fine, but was tied to a charge so that was the downside.

I love the controls of 2, but yeah plenty of times I remember pressing "B" in front of rings and just somersaulting instead of dashing.

Or having to use it on a line of rings that starts over a pit and praying you wouldn't trigger the bounce attack instead. Many a Crazy Gadget hard mode attempt was lost to that shit.

I like to play SADX with an instant light speed dash mod. Makes it feel so much more fluid especially since your relatively more limited moveset means the input for it isn't competing with anything.

That sounds amazing. Id take SA1s spin dash over SA2s though. There was a slight delay in 2 that wasnt present in 1.
