I believe what Cenk has said is that he's not planning on winning, but he wants other democrats to challenge Biden in the primary. According to him a bunch of other prominent democrats will jump into the race if he gets 20-30% popularity in the polls and the democratic party will end up with a stronger candidate than Biden who can then beat Trump.

So basically he thinks "Bernie 2020" plan would work again... that if you have 30% support you'll win if there are a dozen other candidates.

Cenk is not a bad guy, he's just been on a bad trajectory and arc lately and needs to get back to the old school (pun intended) when he was one of the pioneers in progressive media... not what he's doing lately.

Also reminder that Cenk knows so litlle about politics that after Shinzo Abe got assassinated, Cenk said on his show that he (Abe) was politically to the left of AOC.

He needs to go back, but not so far back that he's denying genocides again. Also probably not when he was publicly feuding with Alex Jones, and preferably not in the era of his co-host saying she's better than other people. So, like... some 3 week period in a quiet March that happened over the course of his career.

But buying enough copies of your book so that it becomes a best seller and then giving them away at campaign events is something many politicians have done and as far as I'm aware nobody's ever been arrested over it.

Anyway if he was smart he would wait for 2028 and also work out his argument about how he can run despite being born in Turkey. Because right now that and the fact that the DNC are all in on Biden means no one else is running as a democrat.

Why do you call it the Bernie strategy when it's the strategy Trump actually won with in 2016's primaries? Bernie was just copying what worked for the other outsider candidate. Not his fault lower polling Dem. candidates would rather drop out prematurely than risk it working, unlike GOP candidates.

Not Bernie's fault his winning strategy was having a more unpopular candidacy split over less people and hoping the ones on the other side didn't see their inevitable failure and drop out of the race?

What better strategy could Bernie Sanders run? Independent socialist guy isn't winning a primary normally. He didn't start with majority support like Hillary 2016 and he was never going to be able to get mass endorsements to save his campaign like Biden 2020. His only play was to copy Trump and hope the same thing happened.

Bernie was campaigning as if it was every man for himself. He did not expect candidates to give up on a last ditch Super Tuesday effort purely for the sake of pushing the 2nd place candidate into 1st (ST was only 3 days after SC, so it'd have cost those candidates virtually nothing to stay in). That's never really happened before; usually candidates behave like in the 2016 GOP primary, leaving their campaign open until there's an actual 0% of success.

IIRC Five38 had Buttigieg and what's her face at 0% after SC. If they saw their own political views reflected most strongly in Biden and doing so might put them in a cabinet position, what purpose would there be to not drop out and help him?

Logically it's a beneficial career move. But Bernie was looking at it as if everyone's lone priority was maximizing their odds of winning the nomination.

Basically without everyone playing the way Bernie does (lone soldier style) he can't win the game. That's the position a career outsider finds himself in.

Trump was very lucky that the GOP was full of unpleasant egomaniacs who'd never step aside for the next guy, even when it's their best move.

It's already too late by the time voting starts. Cenk wants to motivate people now, through solid polling, before ballot registry deadlines close.

He's unlikely to poll well either, for a variety of reasons, but it's a last resort campaign.

cenk running is such a waste of time. I guess it's no harm but I don't see the point
