I'm just at the part where you defeat the Triumpherant and find out that Aephorul basically did Fleshmancy to give Re'Shan the gift of flight.

So like... let me get this straight.

Aephorul and Re'Shan are basically gods. Through either pure luck, skill, or a mix of the two, they together founded alchemy powerful enough not only to create life, but allow them access/create a multiverse. Their power is so great that they both became immortal and in that immortality, Re'Shan seemingly decided to try to do good with it while Aephorul became corrupted by it, losing sense of all morality. What is morality to a being that is cursed to never die? He cares not about the whims and desires of the very life he creates. The both of them face off against one another but it turns out to simply destroy whatever worlds they have created and decide instead to have a cease-fire, sorta. They have proxy wars, where Aephorul creates Dwellers in his attempts to control/destroy worlds, while Re'Shan creates Solstice Warriors in an attempt to rise to become gods in their own world and defeat the Dwellers.

Unless the game kinda shuts the door and has one (or likely both of them) die for good, this kinda opens the door for literally endless possibilities of stories to tell within the framework the lore has created. It's also super interesting how some characters kinda know this is what is going on, others are completely oblivious, and some kinda wanna use the proxy war to their own benefit.

Again, I'm assuming the game will end with Re'Shan sacrificing himself to either contain Aephorul and the two of them together are trapped on one barren planet or something, or maybe since Re'Shan has significant powers to alter time, he might trap them both at an "End of Time" type scenario... but I still really hope they leave the door open.

Fuck, you could even have different STYLES of games within this universe they've created. You don't even need to name them "Sea of Stars ______", just make a game and have some winks and nods to it being another planet created during this conflict. It is amazingly flexible and could usher in some REALLY intriguing story telling and lore.

I mean, that's what they've already done since sea of stars is a prequel to their first game, the messenger.

Not sure if I got the true ending, I didn't do EVERYTHING.

You need to get the first ending before the true one, and the true one is completely different, I'd definitely say to go for it.

It's a shame it takes nearly 20 hours to get to the good stuff. I'm convinced that one of the devs self inserted themself as Garl giving how much the game loves him despite being the biggest Gary Stu in a video game in recent memory.

definitely go for the true ending, this is one of the most rewarding games ever made to complete.

Yeah, I really wish they hadn't required that. Do you know about the parrot that tells you which areas still have conches and treasures?

Yeah I have it. It is gonna be annoying to get them all. I think I'm missing like 15?

The parrot said I missed one in Kiln Mountain but I went back and i already had it.

If you mean because it said you had something else on that continent, it cycles through conches and treasures.

I went through with a guide and picked up the conches, and then got the true ending.

Gotta say, love the game for sure, and I love the implications of the world building. It's not like Aephorul or Resh'an are gone or even that there is any indication that the ongoing struggle between them will change, as far as I could tell? We defeated Aephorul but we are still kinda just traveling the multiverse trying to take out the Dwellers, which we fail at anyways given the implications with the Messenger. At least on that world.

I really hope all their games connect to this multiverse they've created. It will be great.

Gave it a 9/10. I don't think it's as good as Chained Echoes, but it is still a damn good game.
