Lol no. You could absolutely replace the drive in the current PS5. The difference is that for the average Joe, they'd have to take it to a repair place, instead of being able to do it themselves. And I doubt the disc drives will fail any time soon. You can just put the desktop where the console would be. You can actually use the controller as a mouse. Or at least Playstation controllers, you can. If you want the computer just for gaming and don't plan on browsing or anything, you can set Steam to auto-run on PC start (can't remember if this is default or not) and whenever you turn on your computer, you can just hit a button on your controller to enter Steam's Big Picture Mode which basically turns it into console mod where it works every well with a controller. Wouldn't even really need to touch a keyboard or mouse after the setup is done.
