When does it ever not go dark? Like it's in the name...

I remember playing this with a group of friends of friends and some got really upset over any perceived racial dark humour. To the point where they threw out anything that has to deal with racist dark humour.

Children have thoughts as dark and awful as yourself, and that gives them a chance to express and process them (hopefully without fear of judgement) to the adults around them.

Isn't the kids version apples to apples?

Yeah, fair. Some of the stuff in the adult version can be pretty fucking racist.

You haven't met my children. My daughter comes out with some stuff that would make Varg Vikernes go "whoa, that's really grim".

My son chooses chaos each and every time.

The family version that predates CAH by a decade but is otherwise almost exactly the same thing. Silly cards, not adult/edgy/dark cards.

Apples to apples has you matching things (people, animals, places, groups, concepts, whatever) to descriptions (a single adjective)

personally I find it a lot more fun than CAH because instead of trying to match very specific fill in the blanks or etc you're working in a bit more of an abstract way and it can be kinda silly as a result. I think its main downside is that the deck has too many specific named people in it and they're almost always extremely lame answers for just about any description card, if you even know who they are in the first place
