It's still not quite at a point where I'd be comfortable switching altogether, but it's getting closer and closer. I'd be willing to run it on a secondary PC at this point.

This has been a real joy to use. Being able to make my desktop look exactly as I want it, having only what I actually use installed (no cortana/bing bloat!), faster updates, better filesystem (btrfs subvolumes!), and just getting away from Microsoft

It would accept cue files but just wouldn't play any TTA. Tried flatpak and repo versions

Almost all of the touhou music I have is in tta+cue so it's a complete dealbreaker

Linux has been objectively superior to Windows as an operating system for a decade or more. The problem is that it has basically no support for home desktop. It has well over 95% of server market share, but something like 3% of home desktop at best.

Gaming is largely solved now, but all the stuff around gaming likely never will be. There are literal decades of mod managers, trainers, save editors, cheat engines, etc., etc., that were designed for Windows. While you can probably get them running on Linux if you set up WINE bottles and such manually, for most people, its simply not worth the hassles of using Linux to get the benefits of using Linux.

Windows 11 + WSL2 is the best option.

Literally all of them have that as far as Im aware. You just have to enable it. You should also be aware Windows has a shitload of columns that arent enabled by default too, like a duration column that shows how long video files are.

When I can run my mod managers and the like on my Steam Deck without having to wrestle with bottling them and relying on tribal knowledge to do so, let me know.

The Deck doesnt really have the power to be running heavily modded games anyway.

Its not bad to get just Vortex Mod Manager working on Linux. If memory serves, you have to create a MIME type association that tells it to use the bottled Vortex Mod Manager for the install with mod manager links. But anything manual like Mod Organizer stuff is indeed pain enough to not bother with Linux on a gaming desktop IMO.

my gaming pc needs windows, my consumption device is a macbook, i dont mind linux but i dont need a third computer or care enough to dual boot

i get my fill of bash and command line rhel at work

Once Windows 10 becomes unusable I'm jumping ship to Linux, Valve has made that a near guarantee for me and I don't want to deal with fucking ads in the fucking file explorer.

Accepting that a column most people dont care about is hidden by default is not brushing anything aside, its just not throwing a tantrum.

Most operating systems (Windows included) look like shit by default. I dont cry about it, I just spend the small amount of time making them look the way I want when setting up a new device.

i mean, the first thing i do on windows 10 pc is remove the search from task bar

pressing window key starts a search anyway and a white rectangle is ugly

Same honestly. I got pissed the other day when an update on my work laptop put it back and I had to waste my time hiding it again.

Unless you buy a Linux gaming device like the steam deck, the experience is pretty shitty to set up.

OpenSUSE sets up a much better default install than Windows does, and installing new programs through Yast or Discover is better than the classic Windows approach of going to each individual website and installer

I've never seen the point of Tumbleweed when Arch has the AUR and does rolling release a lot better.

Most people dont use Linux period. But you can install pamac on Arch, and KDE comes with Discover on any distro.

Then there's also the big headache of anti-cheat software, which Linux is only very recently getting around to supporting.

EndeavourOS has the dual benefits of being easy to set up, and having access to the AUR.

Isnt Endeavour basically just Arch with a Calamres installer?
Thats what Arco is, so Im not sure what differentiates the two.
