A Volusia County, Florida, man was arrested early Monday morning after allegedly shooting and killing his neighbors 42-year-old son who had been trimming tree limbs along his fence line Sunday evening, the Volusia Sheriffs Office said in a Facebook post.

Edward Druzolowski, 78, confronted Brian Ford about being on his property before threatening to shoot him, the VSO said in the post. When Ford refused to leave, Druzolowski shot the man, who died despite life-saving measures by the first two deputies on the scene.

Fords mother told sheriffs deputies in a 911 call that her son had been trimming the trees at her house, which is directly next to Druzolowskis, when her neighbor shot him. She also mentioned Fords 8-year-old son was near him when the shooting happened, according to court documents.

This is yet another minor dispute that escalated to a murder because one or more parties involved felt the need to shoot someone.

Civilians shouldn't have guns. Vengeful, depressed misanthropes and people with rage issues have ruined it for everyone.

It doesn't even sound like the victim was on the killer's property. So hopefully the killer is convicted

Always believe them. It's not worth it. They've been proven to be crazy enough to do it.

If somebody is threatening to shoot me, I immediately disassociate myself and call the police. Trimming trees along your property line isn't worth it. Y'all have some legitimate psychopaths that shouldn't be owning guns.

The saddest part here is that the perpetrator won't even really serve out justice. Sounds like he had given up on life already.

So glad the world can see the Americans for their renowned civility, friendliness, and such amazing hospitality of a place.

These days I agree with you. I wanted to try and be fair about it for years. But there are too many trigger happy lunatics.

Also, I knew it would be in the south somewhere.

Wow, on top of being a pointless death, it is made even worse by the fact that Tree Law is a thing, and it would have actually been pretty easy to legally go after someone for messing with your trees.

Sounds like it wasn't even the shooter's trees. It was the neighbor's trees, and the limbs were hanging over supposedly "disputed" property.

Yep. In pretty much any other country, this scenario ends differently. Sadly for the victim, this happened in a country that fetishizes guns.
