I accidentally ran over a dog and the pain I felt go through my body was almost unbearable but I kept driving because of guilt

I hit a dog when I was eighteen. It was two little girls walking their dog and they let it go and it ran in the street and I slammed on my brakes but it was too late.

i put my car in park and got out of my car and sat there and cried with the little girls until their dad came, hugged me, told me it wasnt my fault, and that I should go home. Ive had horrible things happen to me in my life, but I still consider that to be the worst day of my life. Ive never really gotten over it. I still feel so bad.

I hit a dog about 8yrs ago.It was a stray.and the lady walking down the sidewalk started screaming. The dog jumped up and ran off.

My worst one was hitting an Owl about 5min into my 2 week trip on Xmas vacation.
