I'm ethnically Scots mostly. Still fail at beard.

I'd recommend getting your first trim done by a barber

It'll look nicer than if you did it yourself and make the kinda unpleasant growing period feel more worth it

I couldn't grow one until my early 30s actually

I still don't have like a gandalf beard. But it's decent enough that I keep it. When I tried in my 20s it just looked bad so I'd give up on it. Then would try again like a year or two later

thats my plan. Im currently wearing a mask at work because I gotta fly in a few weeks so Im hoping I can use the mask to hide the awkward period and then when I get back Ill have about 7-8 weeks of growth and let a barber do their thing
