I'm playing Arkham Asylum for the first time after only playing like the first 5-10 minutes of Arkham City, and I see why it's considered one of the best video games ever made.

Yeah it's my favorite of the three. I know most people prefer City but I like the Metroidvania style of Asylum.

You could argue that they're pretty much equal and it all depends on if you like Batman or Spider-man more lol

It's a really solid experience. A few dumb things in there, but overall pretty damn good. I must've played the demo like 30 times, just figuring out how to get the most points in a takedown chain in that one room.

Arkham Knight has the best movement in any game ever. Zipping yourself up into the air with your grappling hook and gliding around the city was already established in Arkham City, but the addition of the Batmobile and being able to seamlessly switch between movement modes really brought it up a notch.

AK is held back by the tank combat and a little too much sidequest padding (would've been so nice if a bit more of that stuff had been worked into the main story, instead it's almost all unrelated sidequest content), but other than those drawbacks it's very nearly a perfect game. Amazing combat, puzzles, story & performances.

Honestly it absolutely baffles me that AK came out in 2015 and absolutely nailed this, yet so many games released since then have such awful clunky mount/vehicle systems.

Arkham Knight: Hold Batmobile button, it zooms to you along a road and you immediately do a cool Batman flip into the driver's seat and are now driving along the road, all in like 3-5 seconds.

Other games: Use some sort of fast menu or button combination to summon mount/vehicle, mount teleports into existence, stationary, 150ft behind you on the other side of two fences and a building, you run over to it, press the "get in" button, your character runs around to the other side of it, animation gets stuck because it's parked too close to a wall or something, you manually move to the other side and press the mount button, you finally get on/in, then try to move away from the wall but you clip into it and have to slowly and awkwardly reverse and do a k-turn, finally 2 minutes later you are riding/driving.

This. There are some things I like more about the sequel, like the fun grapple gliding stuff and playing as Catwoman, but the first game has a much creepier vibe that feels more like Batman and his world to me.

I played and beat Asylum and City, played but never beat Origin and never played Knight, I can't wait to get the Triology next month so I can finally play Arkham Knight.

Theyre both considerably better than Spider-Man on PS4. Origins is too.
