No. Houdini was an illusionist. Being stuck in a Saw trap is not an illusion.

seriously this escape artists largely cheat

they do know some clever ways to move the body to get out of things

but largely its trickery

and houdini is far from the best escape artist who ever lived any ways

He was also crazy flexible and dextrous and talented lock picker. He would have an easy time getting out of the non psychological parts of the traps. The whole first movie basically wouldn't have happened if one of the two guys was Houdini.

The stuff he would have trouble with would be the traps that required him to hurt other people to escape.

Maybe a Fate version of him. But the real deal worked with gimmicked props and practiced using them hundreds of times.

He would probably have better odds than a normal person. One of the key things about Saw traps is being cool under pressure and acting in a rational manner. And he's got that down.

No, as Houdini in the like know the "trick," before hand, and "solution."

They'd be dead if they didn't play along... no "getting out, magic!" tricks.

Idk, you ever read Under the Sphinx? Dude literally found a secret entryway to an ancient chamber filled with cultists under the Sphinx and even came in contact with an eldritch being. He survived that I'm sure he can do more impressive things

Weird Tales was up Lovecrafts ass to colab on this fake story with Houdini. By far the most surreal pairing off in the 20th century media.

Under the Pyramids was the story he wrote, basically a tit-for-tat transcription of the post you made, and it's god awful lol

I don't know how Houdini would react to an escape trap he has to figure out on the fly.

He was also a master escape artist. Escapes are illusions, sure, but they require feats of skill and athleticism to perform. Houdini was a physical specimen in his day. Id give him even odds in any Saw trap.

Bro knew the "outs," and practiced. It's all by design. With a way to get out in mind.

On the other hand, you're not meant to be able to escape traps in Saw... without getting hurt or losing something I mean.

many of his traps have real out

oh he will claim they do but often times its out of your control depends on how some one else reacts

Don't get me wrong here, dude is skilled.

Just don't think you are comparing similar traps/scenarios. Which changes things a lot.

Aren't most of the traps basically do something awful > get key > unlock lock to escape / get antidote / whatever

Because Houdini totally has the skill to pick those locks. dude was picking locks with bobby pins before hollywood made it a meme

I think Kramer would take that into consideration. Wouldn't be hard to deny you picking abilities.
