While waiting for elevator in my building. A woman and her kid likely on way to school came out and kid had sniffles and was coughing. It seemed very pre-covid having a runny nose and coughing and showing up to school/work maskless. Is that how everyone else does it? I have online class and remote work. So I am not near people to know the current in person etiquette. In title I just assumed it was a cold but it could be flu/COVID for all I know. If this is the new normal fall/winter going to be interesting.

Almost everyone is rejecting the mask. I think it should become standard that you wear one in public if you're sick, though. That's what they have you do at my doctor's office now.

Almost nobody wears masks. They've decided that COVID is over and no big deal. I usually go in the office 1-2 times a month and my friend and I are the only ones who ever wear a mask. The last time we had to go in there was a big department meeting with a whole bunch of people and there was literally only 1 other person in the room with a mask besides the 2 of us and there had to be at least 200+ people in there.

it's just allergies

but to be serious, people have always sent kids to school sick, especially before and even after covid. daycare and babysitters are expensive and a lot of people can't afford to take a day off to watch their kid
