They used to be more expensive a couple years ago.

GPUs are still insanely expensive. The only thing I've noticed going down in price is storage.

Up until the last couple years at least and maybe still now, it was actually cheaper to buy a premade pc vs. making it yourself just from the cost savings on the GPU. It was fucking atrocious.

Only if you're buying unnecessarily high end ones

RTX 3060s/4060s are affordable even up here in Canada, and that's more than enough for running current games

I have an RTX 2080 that's starting to show its age for 1440p/144Hz gaming and all the aftermarket fan replacements I see online are of really shitty quality. If I were to try to repair it I run the risk of breaking the entire thing due to its shroud/heatsink design.

I can't afford to upgrade and newer cheaper GPUs are about on-par or only slightly better than it.

Does anyone have a really good resource for building your own PC?

It's getting better. CPU prices aren't bad at all and SSD's are great.

GPU's are still overpriced compared to how it used to be.

are gpus more expensive to make up for the reduce sales cuz SLI no longer a popular thing (is it actually still possible)?

cuz i remember ppl running like sli titans or sli xx80ti or even sli xx70s and that'd be like the price of a single gpu now lol.

edit: nevermind i forgot people were mining stuff not too long ago. do people still do that in droves or has it become less popular?

It's less popular but I believe NVIDIA is still riding out the stock from that boon and AMD has that as their competition so they can also keep prices high.

GPU mining is dead

i think the high prices had something to do with Taiwan

Ram and SSDs are pretty cheap yeah.

CPUs haven't really moved in the last 5 months.
