BoF3 is great too but the grinding is a gnawing shit storm especially if you include the fishing aspect of the game. You have to know how to use the Masters system correctly or you'll miss out on things or be severely weak. And the desert part was horrible.

BoF2 is the worst in the series, not counting 6.

• Dragon morphs are now just attack spells that take all your AP
• Shaman Morphs break easy and then you have to go halfway across the world to reset them
• Vague ambiguous directions on how to recruit for township that can lock you into the bad ending
• Overall zero improvements made from BoF1 it's the same game but worse in just about every category except Katt

I love 2, enjoy it more than 3, but I feel like 3 is objectively the better game even if it forces you to use Momo way too often.

In BoF2, I agree that most characters was weak as shit especially Jean, Stan and Spar. I dunno why but this game made AP Items such as Wisdom Fruits to be so damn rare. But I do love grinding and right after you get the whale you can easily grind to overlevel your characters to make you super strong.

As much as I love III's dragon gene system as an idea, I think that it's kinda superfluous since for each boss there's really just one good choice.

IV's is better, but bizarrely tied to minigame points or something confusing.

I liked BoF4 as well but they made the fishing aspect of the game even worst and it's such a vital way to get good items. In BoF3, even though fishing was annoying as fuck, it was easy to get a TEC-2 and that was enough to catch the rarest fishes. Mean while in BoF4 TECing was hard and dumb as shit and it was fucking horribly hard to get the rare fishes.

Didn't like the art and character direction in BoF4. Way too many fucking pace breaking mini-games. It was cluckier than BoF3. Camera angles in some towns were awful.

As an early teen I had to start the game over because of Sten's fucking quest. He was under leveled and I saved after he got down to the dungeon part. This is also what taught me the value of multiple save files.

As soon as I get the whale I always go to Mount Maori. There's a fountain that refills your stats real close to the entrance and the monsters there give you decent EXP. Get into a fight, use dragon to win battle, refill stats, rinse and repeat.

People say go to Monster Island to get insane EXP but it's more of a chore to go there.

We must have played different games. Only thing I had a problem with was hitting tech 3. Tech 4 was simple. I'd use the spoon as bait and use tech-4 to catch whatever was there.

I'll be honest, BoF2 is the only one I finished once. I always felt the encounter rate was just brutal. I hear the GBA version is much better, slightly lower encounter rates and more xp/gold from encounters.
