If you're capable of always paying your card back on time then you have no reason not to get a credit card with cash back rewards. You'll build your credit and get literal free money back. Here are my cash back from last month on just doing normal everyday spending using my CC.

I get 2% for groceries and 0.5% on everything else on mine

Supposed to get 2% on bill payments but it doesn't work for phone, internet, or even insurance for some reason...

It's a wash these days given how so many places charge a CC fee, have a cash pay discount.

Granted you don't get that at a grocery store or big box store, yet.

No, get a rewards card that lets you use on the travel portal or transfer to airlines/hotels.

You still have the option of cash back. It's usually a terrible redemption value

I use Venture and I haven't paid for a flight in 5 years. There's a $100 annual fee but I earn way more than that back so whatever.

How did you get 76 dollars cash back in one month? I have a Capital One Quicksilver card and while I don't use it all the time I would use it frequently and I'd get that maybe in a year! I must have either a terrible cash back percentage or not realize what the exclusions are.

Its not for everybody though, specially younger people and those who buy stuff just because.

That said I got the Amazon Prime visa with 5% cashback on amazon purchases and on everything else for a period of 3 months. Racked up close to $200 just from paying bills and some other stuff with it. And I also got a 150 gift card when I opened it. Of course, this is all a predatory move to get some people hooked and paying interests each month.

I use my rewards card on everything. The only times I don't use it on is for places that won't accept them such as mortgage payments and some utility bills that won't accept a CC or they charge you more for using a CC vs direct payment through your checking account. Here is my spending since beginning of the year.

Everything should be paid on your credit cards.

Even for a mortgage, Plastiq is an option.

Usually theyre charging a fee that will outweigh the rewards so not really advisable unless youre churning and just need to rack up total spending to meet the threshold for the 1 time reward

A couple of points:

A) Has anybody found a CC that gives a flat 3% or higher back on everything? Well Fargo has a flat 2% (and I don't eat out/travel/etc that much for the 5% categories on other cards)

B) Bilt CC is the first (I believe) to give cashback when paying rent AND covers the additional fee a lot of apartments charge. It's not much but it's free money (no annual fee etc)

As I mentioned previously, you might need to use Plastiq as a middle man. And you won't escape the fees.

But at the end of the day, putting rent or mortgage on a credit card can be useful for meeting sign up bonuses. You can also treat the points you'll get are worth more than the fee.

I want to like Bilt, but the constant waves of fraud and lack of a proper sign up bonus are discouraging. There's still no decent way to get a huge sign up bonus for American airlines and their affiliates without getting an American airlines card. I guess that's why American was okay with being their transfer partner when no one else is allowed to be.

It's not a flat 3% but the BoA one I have lets me change what I get my 3% on every few months.
