According to Jo Marie Peyton, the actors really weren't too happy about it becoming the Steve Urkel show, but they accepted it.

It must have galled her in particular given that she was the reason the show was created in the first place.

Without Urkel though, I doubt Family Matters lasts longer than 1-2 seasons.

I remember an episode of FM where Laura had the N word spray painted on her locker at school and I thought did they really just do that on prime time tv. I dont think Ive ever seen that episode again tbh, if the removed it from circulation for being offensive, it disappeared into the ether like Judy.

I still watch episodes of Family Matters. That's what I looked forward to most on their TGIF line up growing up. Cartoons and cereal the next morning.

Urkel as an icon has more staying power then the Olsen Twins or...anyone else on Full House. I think one of the dudes might have been a nickelodeon host? But I could be remembering wrong.

Out of the two, Family Matters, but everyone knows Step By Step is the superior TGIF show.

Co-sign. I preferred Step By Step to either, and Family Matters over Full House. I did abandon Family Matters later because it got too weird from what I remember.

I never got into Full house that much.

Yeah it's aired on Nick At Nite. However it cuts to a commercial right before Laura closes her locker which shows the N word having been spray painted on it.

What happened to the Olsen twins anyway. All pictures of them in the past couple decades look like they crawled out of a crypt and left their souls inside.

Ashley and her husband were quietly married last winter, but they were dating for years before. Hes close to her age.

There is a Youtube channel called inappropriate laugh tracks where they add a laugh track to serious sitcom moments. They featured this episodes. They did a bunch of these old sitcoms with serious issues

Bob Saget was the original host of America's Funniest Home Videos and did that for like a decade iirc. Dave Coulier also hosted a spinoff of that series for a couple years. Don't know if they did any other hosting but it wouldn't be surprising.

The only FH cast member that I have ever seen in anything since it ended is John Stamos, who has popped up on various rime time dramas since.
