I'm only at the end of the arc that introduces Usopp where they fight Captain Kuro, but it's a lot of fun. I'm gonna check out more of the live-action show once I watch a decent chunk of the anime, but so far yeah...I should have started this sooner lol

It had a very, very strong start. The pacing fatigue didn't really set in for me until around episode 140, but I enjoyed the entire thing up until then.

Watching now. Episode 200 or so.

I think it has... problems. Without sugarcoating it, the manga has been a lot more enjoyable to read. I wanted to see what some of my favorite moments looked like animated but there's so many... anime-isms that just bother the fuck out of me.

For example, you're eventually going to meet two humans in a garden, and they have the worst fucking laughs I've ever heard. Everyone's supposed to have their own unique laugh, and the English localization decided that these two would have words instead of laughing noises.

It's grating as fuck and nearly ruined that arc for me. Which sucks cause in the manga they're a lot more fun because I don't have to hear them.

Shit like this permeates the otherwise enjoyable parts of the show.

I called it quits at fishman Island myself, but the pacing was awful long before then. Its a pity, because when its good, its really good.

When it starts each episode adapts about two and a half chapters. By episode 300 you are lucky if it adapts one chapter per episode.

I quit the anime like 3 months after I ran out of episodes.

It's really great when you can marathon the whole thing.
Not so much when you have to wait a week between episodes and nothing happens.

I remember when people use to call Dragon Ball Z Drag On ball because of how it used characters yelling at each other to slow down the pacing. Yet compared to One Piece Dragon Ball Z was fast paced.

I'm watching for the first time as well, and just finished the Usopp introduction arc. But man, does it drag, and are the characters annoying. Surprised they haven't made a One Piece "Kai" version already with how popular it is.

The One Piece anime makes OG Dragon Ball Z look like a well paced show in comparison. There are literal episodes that try to stretch 1 whole chapter from the manga into a full episode and it's painfully bad. The anime does have some great sakuga moments Kaido vs Luffy Gear 5 being the most recent example. If at any point you feel the pacing gets real bad, just drop it and read the manga instead. Viz has their whole backlog, with all the one piece manga chapters, for $3's monthly subscription if you wanna do it the legal way.

They will 100% do one once the series fully concludes, don't know when that will happen.

I recently started the anime over from the beginning after watching the Netflix show. The early anime has so many great moments.

Its cool seeing oda's drawings change over time lol, i sometimes miss da early one piece look doe
