And if I understanding the the NLRB rules, this pretty much makes them a union. The employer must bargain with them now. Unless I'm mistaken?

yeah they already voted for it. nothing the employer can do(legally, anyway).

they could always just fire them all but I doubt that'll happen.

a unanimous vote seems pretty unusual though, I wonder how many employees it is

It is, this is just the 50 or so on set VFX employees. A lot of the outsourced stuff is post production.

they'd have to come up with 'legit' reasons, not just because of the unioization

basically restarting a whole studio would probably cost more than whatever benefits they end up getting though
