Honestly I want to downgrade in terms of size. Have the 13 pro max and want a small standard phone again. And the usb c charging, cant even tell you what the pro features on my phone are.

Just read this on wired regarding USB-C

It's rumored that Apple may try to recoup its lost Lightning licensing fees by implementing a Made for iPhone program for USB-C accessories. Apple would have to approve each accessory, offering a way for consumers to buy a cable knowing precisely what it will be capable of doing. However, Apple may penalize people who use cables that are not part of the programthey may not work all that well, even if they are technically compatible.

And honestly that would be such an Apple thing to do. I hope they don't go that route.

I heared that anything that is "Made for iPhone" certified is going as good as it can, and anything else will be limited to USB 2.0.

But that's something we probably won't hear today anyways, we will have to wait for the first reviews to confirm that.

I just got an iPhone 14 Pro Max about 6 months ago, so I won't be upgrading to this one. I'll still check the event out to see what the new features are. USB C is an attractive thing, but I don't think it's worth trading the 14 in just for that.

Nope, just got the 14 last week and plan on keeping this one until it craps out.

I purchased a 14 Pro earlier this year. Maybe Ill upgrade next year or two years depending on how great this phone is

so far it's just USB C and an Action Button for the lazy people that don't wanna use control center. Probably going to be the most mediocre upgrade ever in an iPhone since one is literally government mandated and the other is so useless that people will have to cope themselves into believing its worthy of buying a new phone

I haven't been hyped for an iPhone since the iPhone X years ago. I have a 12 Pro Max and I'm just not that interested in upgrading until it stops getting security updates and/or it breaks. iPhones just aren't fun and exciting anymore.

I feel this way about phones in general these days. One of my motivations for switching from Android to iPhone was that I was so bored with Android. I felt like I did just about everything I ever wanted to do with Android, so I switched to get some kind of a fresh experience.

Probably won't upgrade, but we'll see. My 12 mini is showing it's age a bit.

Ill consider an iPhone when:

1. It has USB-C (thanks EU).
2. It has official support for sideloading apps and there are iOS equivalents to ReVanced Extended / NewPipe so I can listen to YouTube without ads with my screen off.
3. I can wirelessly transfer my FLAC files into the Music folder and play it with the native Music apps, instead of having to make an ALAC copy of my collection and going through iTunes over USB like its 2000.

Ok so we're looking at USB-C (essentially mandated by the EU), 5x optical on the Pro Max, an Action button (what Android device doesn't already allow to you customize the side/power key?) and the usual spec bump. What's new here?

Samsung is on their 5th generation of foldable devices and you yet you still can't charge your Airpods on the back of your iPhone.

Nobody uses reverse charging or the hundred times zoom. I had Samsung exclusively for like 7 years and only recently switched back to iPhone with the 13.

That's the excuse the Apple faithful use to explain why they are always so slow to adapt to new technology. Wi-Fi 6e? Samsung has had it since 2021.

You mean they wait to see how popular a feature is before finally adopting it. Apple is a lot of things these days, but innovative is by far not one of them, especially after Steve Jobs died. Apple simply lacks visionaries that know a good idea when they hear it.

Smartphones have been around for a long time now. Its only ever going to be spec bumps or silly gimmicks at this point. I don't really see why Apple would give a shit what new gimmick Samsung has unless people start preferring Samsung phones due to those features.

Lmao wat. Literally Samsung and Google have been up there as basic point and click cameras. Hell, in some blind tests people have even picked One Plus. Pictures/cameras nowadays have gotten to the point where there is very little difference in the top 3-5 phones so all that's left is personal preference with processing, natural colors, warmth, etc. To act like iPhones are the only duh point and click best out there is so laughable.

I heard the new iPhone isnt going to allow talking on the phone anymore. Its being called a very brave decision

Theyve always done that, but just like Samsung for a 2 year old phone youd probably get about $600 if my memory serves.

Up to 1000 bucks for a 4 year old phone actually. Has to be 11 pro max specifically to get the 1000 if I remember correctly.

My 12 Pro isn't exactly starting to feel slow but there's enough cumulative improvement since 2020 that I might upgrade.

I have an iPhone 11 Pro that is starting to have issues so I may upgrade.

Getting your phone from a carrier is a suckers bet though, as they lock it to that carrier and put carrier bloatware on it. I was talking about the ones Apple does directly.

If you go buy a device from Apple.com, somewhere in the purchasing process is an option to trade in an older device, and they tell you what its worth after asking if its busted up etc.

The XR only supports 4G/LTE while everything from the iPhone 12 onward supports 5G. It depends what your carrier is. If it's an MVNO (Verizon Visible, T-Mobile Mint, etc.) you might have better reception with newer hardware.
