I don't want to start discussing the topic here, but there is a way to do so while not lessening the severity of the crimes.....and arguing for a lesser sentence could be construed as 'the crime doesn't deserve that punishment'. Framing it as 'are you rehabilitating a troubled young man or stoking bitter fires of resentment' could prove troublesome. It was probably a fair moderation as per my OP. Theres a time and place for that sort of discussion and that topic wasnt it. I fully admit that and accept the moderation. I don't think so. I'm reading the and/or as "in support of lessening the sentence", not "in support of the sentence". The absolute volume of threads and posts about EG the 1/6 rioters and their sentences being too light indicates that's not the policy unless it was implemented like, today.Yeah, I've seen numerous mods say stuff like the death penalty is unethical even if the criminal was convicted of child rape or mass shooting which would technically fall under that mod note's rationale too.
