It was always to pretend that you're invisible, & even if you think someone sees you, assume they're looking through you or by you. It's all just about defensive driving & making sure to always be in the proper space within a lane that you're always incredibly obvious or visible to other's, avoiding blind spots & that sort of thing. Doing a quick rev after pulling in the clutch helps, but that's also a split second you're taking to react to someone else's driving instead of preceding their driving & making adjustments to avoid being that close to begin with. It's reactive, not proactive.
