I can honestly say I never had the chance to play Gemfire. I was a somewhat wee lad when the Genesis came out and I wasn't really the kind of kid to be doing a strategy game. However, I heard it was very ambitious and once you get over the learning curve it is actually supposed to be an excellent strategy game for the time and the constraints of the 16-bit era.

Never heard of it until now, but it looks like something I might like.

there were five factions. Each faction had a hero wizard. Each hero wizard had his own unique magic attack, with unique art and animation

there were cool random events each turn. Like, "a sea seelie has decided to join your army"

I'm not always gonna pick the most popular games out there, since I mean... we all know most people have played Sonic 2, Streets of Rage, Columns, etc. etc.

I've never hear of that game which is surprising. I've at least heard of most Genesis games if not played them.

Yep, on Sega Channel, it ******* sucks. The controls are pretty damn wonky. The graphics looked like the Master System, the sound is the same too.

I mentioned it in another topic recently. You play as a ghost trying to scare an awful family out of their house. You do this by possessing different objects in each room to activate them. The animations of each item was always cool to me as a kid.

I got that game for my birthday as a kid

Anyway, I remember trying Gemfire. I think I played it at a friend's house or maybe rented it, idr. I thought it would be more like Shining Force, but instead it's Gemfire. I didn't play too much of it
