Play an inferior experience

at least with WoW it was more like ready to play = less than 1 GB, when the entire game was over 100GB

What? In your example the "ready to play" is only 25% in. Why would you wait for the other 75% to dip your toe in?

Most of it's so limited it's usually not even worth it. Like you can see the main menu and if lucky go through the char creator.

My favorite is when it's available, but literally breaks the game like ESO used to on xbox one. At one point you HAD to do a full system reboot after every single game update, and if you launched the game during ready to start while still updating... lol.
