It looks good but I already have so many gaming goals i'm trying to complete. Ah, why can't time just stand still and we can play games without needing to work, eat, manage hygiene, workout, sleep, etc.

been half watching my gf play it on the other TV.

it looks basically exactly like what it's marketed as -- homage to turn based rpg. ill be picking it up next week in advance of a flight

Yeah it's pretty great, with fairly basic, okay turn based combat. Not knocking turn based, I love it, but the game does nothing new or original when it comes to combat.

That I don't buy games brand new there's plenty of old games to play

I'm only about 7 or so hours in, but I've been having fun.

Couple downsides I'll mention are that monsters don't seem to drop anything except food and there have been several maps where it looks like there could be alternate paths or other secrets, but there's nothing more than what you see.

On the upside (or it could be seen as a downside as well), grinding is unnecessary, so you'll not need to worry about being too low level for your next boss encounter.

It's extremely mediocre. The battle system is way to eh late game. The user above mentioned not needing to grind, but that's not really true. The truth is you can't grind because of the XP system.

The combat system actively works against itself. By late game there is always one clearly optimal move to make and it feels like you're just going through the motions. You're stuck watching the same exact animations again and again, and can't even zone out because you have to be ready for the Quick time event. Bosses have unique mechanics, but there's no reason to engage with them at all.

Do octopath. It's exactly the same as 1, so if you liked that, you'll like 2.

The combat is god awful
