I played the first one a few years back and it was a good little time and very impressive for being on a GameBoy. But I just started 2 and I'm pretty blown away by how good it is. Does some totally unique things that still feel right at home in a Super Mario game.

I love that game's soundtrack.

What do you mean? We were all talking about it at recess at school and if you were one of the few people who had it and a Gameboy, you were like king of the playground and everyone was your friend. Everyone except the guy who got a football for Christmas that is. Parents should have just got him a carton cigarettes instead as it would have probably added more value to his life than a football.

Now, wait until you play Super Mario Land 3. That's a pretty wild game too.

Super mario land 2 (n' 3) alongside zelda link's awakening both offered some unique gameplay and a little something different than the console games for each of their series so it was pretty nice.

I always thought that mario toy map, going to the moon and that giant tree map were cool ideas for a mario game some years before stuff like mario galaxy and mario odyssey did the same concepts.

It's pretty great, sadly it pushed the GB to its limits so there's a fair bit of lag.

Hold up. Is that a goomba in a Jason mask with a knife sticking out its head?

It's one of the most unique Mario games. The level design and boss fights are so memorable.

Id played the original SML on Game Boy back when it first came out. Id never tried SML2 until just a few years ago, when I got it on 3DS. And it honestly took me by surprise. It is a shockingly good and detailed game, considering the hardware it was on.

One of the select few games I know just about front to back .. was the catalyst for gaming becoming my primary hobby as a youngster.

Yeah, it kind of surprised me as a kid. I didn't even like SMBL1 back when it came out, but the second game took me by surprise by how nonlinear it was.

I remember when I was in elementary school, my aunt let me have her Game Boy and a few games. This and the first game were some of them. Had a lot of fun playing them.

Just finished it. Great. Really wish I coulda played this as a kid, but it actually holds up super well.

SML was pretty much a spin off to SMB1 (NES). But then SML2 was a spin off to SMW (SNES), which blows my mind. It really feels like a SNES game, and it blows my mind.

Imagine a PSP game looking like a PS4 game

The 3 Little Pigs boss gave me such a hard time when I was a kid. In fact, for most of the bosses, I would spam fireballs to win the boss battles.

Yeah, there's something really impressive about the ability to make such a fluid game on the Game Boy. The only other game I ever played that felt anywhere close to that on the Game Boy was Kirby's Dreamland 2.

its the fact that the game is so fluid. In addition to that, the sprites are very big and their artworks seems to be the same artwork as Mario world.
