Unless it's a subscription based game. Believe it or not most people have PCs. That can play games. And they probably do play on them.

It's really kinda just trolls or weird people on the internet that have that and other tribalistic opinions instead of actual personalities that only play one platform or give a shit about what other people play games on.

Because PC are rather open and most people have one so no one company can do the same as any of the big three video game console makers. I would also imagine that there are still costs in operating these systems and servers on top of any and all royalties spread to different developers and publishers.

My uncle that works at Nintendo just got a new yacht, so my other uncle that works at Sony needs to buy a bigger yacht.

Respectively, Sony Xbox and Nintendo have to own or rent their own servers for people to play on. That requires capital. And those machines don't last forever, they require maintenance and upgrades and those aren't cheap. A basic server can easily be 20k+, multiply that by however many servers they have, which could be in the hundreds if not thousands, plus the specialty rooms to house them in, and the increase cost over the years to keep them running.

Not to mention the rising costs of employment, it's honestly surprising they haven't upgraded the costs earlier. I'm not saying its the right decision to make, just justifying why it could be done.

Yup, there is a reason PC gamepass is cheaper than Xbox gamepass despite having virtually the same games.

And again they more likely also pay royalties to developers and publishers given that the games they give for the services every month arent all first party titles.

PC Game Pass is also garbage compared to the Xbox Game Pass. None of the games go through proper quality updates, so your forced to play on a much buggier version of said game. I've played games where the mouse cursor was always present even when using controller, Super Lucky Tale has a bug where if you pick up an object you sink into the ground and are unable to move, and plenty of other games suffer from framerate issues.

Sony always wins.

Honestly I always thought $60 was far too much and wasn't willing to pay that.

I think this is it for me as well when my subscription runs out near the end of next year, x.x . That's way too much.

As someone that payed over $3000 for a new PC with a 4080. A PS5 is a way better value even if you do pay for online.

I have about 5 years of PS+ so I guess I'll worry about that in 2027 or 8

I have 6 months left on my basic sub with the option to upgrade to Extra for $20. Might just do that and then maybe not get the basic again. Every so often theres a monthly PS Plus game thats worth it, but an extra $20 for even the basic sub is a bit much.

Yeah...I will not be renewing. Fuck that.

That's a terrible argument since you don't have to pay $3000 for a gaming PC. Not to mention that you can do a lot more with a PC than a PS5 in general anyway including game wise and non game wise.

On topic though, I probably won't renew my PS Plus subscription when it expires in 2024. Glad I stacked when I could. Wish I could have stacked more. I barely use my PS5 these days anyway though. Probably have less than 10 hours for the month.

I am not saying "hahaha PC wins!" I am saying there is 0 justification to charge for online to begin with.
There used to be free online on consoles too.

I mean there probably is one but again no one cares about justification being legit or not.

If you don't play online, that advantage of PC is gone and it's just about the free games... which have also been very hit-and-miss for a long time now, so yeah, not really worth it.

Blame Xbox live. It used to be free in the ps3 days before M$ proved the was money to be made!

I will never forgive Sony for this. Playing online as a kid back then was awesome. Now you can't even play online without paying up.

And now they want you to pay $13 a month or $80 a year just to use multiplayer? Screw that. They will not get a single yearly sub purchase out of me
