Just a thought I had, inspired by a few employment topics on this board.

I made this assuming you currently work the standard 40hr week, although I suppose many professions have different "normal" hours.

And obviously this is on a "permanent" basis, not "work extra hours / fill in for someone once or twice a year".

Yeah, I threw in the lower numbers because I realize some people have lower paying jobs.
I sort of expect people to want more than the standard overtime pay, though, so I'm guessing we'll see around $30~50K ish range to be popular.

Or "not enough money in the world".

I already make more than 100k a year and can make a good living. No money of the world would make me want to work 50+ hours a week. Work/Life balance is everything to me. I'm happy the way it is.

I'll pass.

I'm content with how much money I already make in my 40 hour week. My free time is more important than making more money.

i wanna work less instead of more. like if i could only work like 24 hours a week. 3 8 hour shifts and still make plenty of money to live off of i'd be happy. but hell i know people that work 2 jobs 60-80 hours a week and still struggle to make ends meet.

None. I took a pretty big pay cut for my current job and I work my eight hours and clock out. I've had previous jobs working 60-70 hours a week and I don't care for OT. I even told our building manager at one job this after he said I'd likely be thrilled with the OT opportunities coming up. I live within my means and don't get the appeal of more money beyond my needs and wants being met. I won't be on my death bed wishing I'd have worked more so I could do XYZ while missing the opportunity to do other equally amazing things by simply having the time. My wants are pretty simple and not extravagant and easily affordable. My needs are met despite not making a ton, too.

Pretty interesting that a third of us decided work/life balance was more important.

Seems to be a pretty big shift from the values of pre-Covid years (and the promotion of extra work / side gigs).

I think it just depends on age and/or someone's financial situation. Some people at my work struggling financially and younger kids trying to get ahead take a lot of OT shifts at my job. But if you're older and pretty financially set, I think you start to realize time is more important and more money is just more money, becomes meaningless if your bills are paid and you have the things you want and you still have plenty left.
