I loved figures like this. I had the Batman Returns one. A bit odd that they gave him a bat shirt... I'm assuming that's one he only wears around Alfred, lol.

https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/a/user_image/4/9/0/AAC89BAAEzP6.jpg

Also the Batman Returns Robin figure was really cool, despite the fact that he was an oddity for not being in the movie. Then again, they had Batman in a gold costume and stuff, so I guess Robin is a small departure compared to that.

I fondly remember a Fisher-Price flashlight I used to have as a kid. It had a dial that allowed the flashlight to go from regular to red or green light.

I wouldn't mind having it now.

Since I saw numerous people mention the Creepy Crawler oven, remember when they tried to make it an action cartoon with actual characters, and made action figures like this:

https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/9s8AAOSwNbdhUdmS/s-l1600.jpg

You filled the gaping hole in their stomach with little canisters of actual ooze, which you could flip upside down to get to trickle down, like an hourglass. They were very neat to me, as a kid.

Love it when I forget about a topic like this, then when it pops up again, I have like 50 new posts to sift through.

Anyways, has anyone really posted any He-Man toys? I dont recall seeing anything yet.

Also, I had a Battle Cat rocking horse as a kid. As a 5 year old, I nearly shat myself when I woke for Christmas and saw this waiting for me (I dont have it anymore - just picked a picture from Google).

Something I just remembered that I absolutely loved: Sonic Mountain Quest

https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/FuAAAOSwiFVkeEYU/s-l1200.jpg

It was like a motorized thing where it had moving parts, and you had to basically use pinball-esque bumpers (controlled by the button at the bottom) to move a marble throughout the thing to the top. And you had a time limit, based on how far you turned the dial at the bottom. I think it had like, what were basically Easy, Medium, and Hard modes.

The marble was metal and magnetic, and there were certain points where you'd like, fling the marble up to hang by a magnet, which would cause something to spin and knock against something, knocking the marble loose for you to continue, and so on. It was so cool, as a kid.

Looking at videos, it seems so simple now, but as a kid, it was a blast. The bridge pieces moved, for example, so you had to time when to fling the marble so it could get across. The balloon moved up and down, so you had to time that, etc. The hardest part was the top part with Sonic spun in a circle and had a magnet, so you had to fling the marble up at just the right time so it would catch it and drop the marble through the hole at the top to signify that you won.

Holy shit, it really is. I never knew that. They were both made by Tomy, so it makes sense, but... Geez. Based on quick Googling, it sounds like the original Kongman was released in '82, and so they basically rereleased it as "Sonic Mountain Quest," something that apparently sold much better, thanks to the licensing.

It was based on The Animated Series. The top four recurring villains were Joker, Poison Ivy, Harley Quinn, and Penguin. Assuming they didn't want to include a woman, given the nature of the toy, that leaves them with Joker and Penguin. Of those two, Penguin was the more "physical" of the two, since Joker specifically tried to avoid fighting by playing tricks. It makes sense, to that extent.

Also could've around the time of Batman Returns, when they were heavily marketing Penguin and Catwoman.

Good point. It came out in '92, so that'd make sense. It clearly used TAS designs, but that was the time they would've been pushing Returns, as well.

EDIT: Thinking about it, Returns was probably why TAS featured Penguin as heavily as it did.

I still remember the smell vividly. My brother had "Out House" and I had "Barn Yard". They literally stunk up the whole house. My brother lost his somewhere in his room and my mom went nuts trying to find it since he had toys and junk all over the place. Can't remember if she ever did.

Me and my buddy had so many of the Hook toys as kids (though I must say, looking at the photos now they seem a bit more shit than I remember, haha). We set up a whole Neverland scene in my garden.

He ended up playing a regular character in Primeval on the telly. I'm not saying that his success as an actor is down to us playing with those toys, but I am saying that statistically you just can't rule it out.

Yeah, Pan looks nothing like Robin Williams, Rufio is only discernable from his clothes and paint, etc. I do like the Captain Hook figure, but he's the easiest one not to screw up because of the hook, hat, hair, etc.
