my hot take to torpedo this thread is Andromeda is fun actually

i had fun

ME1: Best story
ME2: Best crew
ME3: Best high stakes feeling
MEA: Best combat

1 was the only one worth playing. If you're not enjoying it, I wouldn't bother with the rest. 2 was hot garbage.

The Mass Effect Trilogy is a great space themed RPG. Good chance you're going to enjoy it.

Make sure you do every side quest as possible throughout, especially the first couple games. You'll get a more rewarding experience as you progress through.

I played through ME1 twice and loved it. I played ME2 for the first time earlier this year and it's...pretty good, I guess. Kind of underwhelming. Haven't started 3 yet.

I'm actually liking Mass Effect 2 quite a bit.

This is definitely not my kind of series but it's still pretty darn good.

I remember trying to play Mass effect for the first time I was really high and I really enjoyed the lore and dialogue but the gameplay was boring in the level designs were so ass that I ended up dropping the game because I got horribly lost cuz the level looked all the same and I couldn't find my way through it.

Fun fact, I joined gamefaqs to get some help with mass effect. My signature has been the same since I joined 12 years ago.

ME1, as said, was imperfect but fun to play. ME2 was a step forward. ME3 was also great, until EA got their hands on it and added microtransactions and fucked up the ending. Half a decade of incredible games and then you just end up choosing what colour explosion you want at the end.

Fabulous way to kill a cash cow. I've borrowed a copy of Andromeda once or twice but the magic is lost. Putting hundreds of hours into my character, just to get that fucking abysmal ending, well, I don't care what people think, I just voted with my wallet. Never bought anything Mass Effect since, never will buy again, and any time I get asked about the games, I say they're shit.

You just don't get it. Bioware was supposed to make every minor decision a player made be reflected in the ending. Who cares if that would be over a million variations, it was just them being lazy.

Now excuse me while I wait with bated breath for ME4, where they better make Destroy the canon ending because it is what I picked and fuck everybody else who prefer control or synthesis.

I never understood why people get hung up on this. >_> Mass Effect makes perfect sense as a "soft canon" franchise where any story you see is just a possible variation on the "legend" of Shepherd. Even the books make Anderson a council member as "canon" despite the fact that it's entirely possible to have picked Udina instead.

Destroy and Control are roughly interchangable given a sufficient time skip and vagueness anyway. The Sheperd AI in Control could have eventually decided just to have the Reapers bugger off into Dark Space and leave everyone the hell alone , and the "Reapers shared information from preserved cycles" part of Control can easily be explained in the Destroy ending by people salvaging Reaper remains.

Synthesis would be harder to soft canon into the sequel but Synthetis was fucking wacky anyway. >_>

Even the basic ass soldier has some fun abilities in ME2 & 3. One of the good things too is if you do want to replay them at some point you can pick a different class for a different combat experience. My favorite is Vanguard.

This might be the most overhyped series of all time. Oh my God!!

This second game is certainly more fun than the first game but nothing crazy, crazy amazingly great. But a solid 8?

Gears of War 2 is a better cover shooter than this.

you're playing basic Soldier, in my opinion, the most boring class

bet you just skipped the entire character creation section, too

It's just...an OK game. I would not dare call it bad, but I would not dare call it excellent. I will call it barely satisfying.

Mass Effect 3's gameplay is leagues better than even 2.

Also, baring the ending, one of my favourite games.
