Well we're still getting new Scooby Doo content 50 years later...

The first real Simpson's test will be how they handle the death/retirement of one of the core cast members. If they recast and soldier on, then the show might outlive us all.

Why is Simpsons considered the longest if Scooby came out first? Because Scooby hasn't been releasing episodes the whole time I'm guessing?

Simpsons has been continually running a singular TV series.

Scooby-Doo has been spread out over like a dozen+ different TV shows, spin-offs, TV specials, etc. But no single show has had more than a handful of seasons.

Scooby Doo doesn't really count in this sense as its basically sporadic in the form of new shows and reboots.

It would be as if Simpsons stopped for a few years every several seasons, then was started up again with the Family Guy writers, then stopped, then a few years later got the Futurama writers for a new show that lasted a couple seasons, then another stop. And then most recently got a new show written by the Bobs Burgers crew. Except, that all these new shows starred the Simpson family and many of the same supporting characters, just sometimes with some differences, and with different forms of humor.

When Nancy Cartwright dies, Simpsons is done.

When Spongebob premiered in 1999, I never imagined it would still be getting new episodes 20 years later. Most Nicktoons end after the 4th season.

The simpsons ended in 1997 for me personally i only watch til about season 8...

Spongebob is basically Nicks version of Simpsons, they only keep it going as its the only mega cartoon they have left...never got into tbqh...but i grew up with the classics like Rocko, Doug, Ahh Real Monsters,etc...

I'd say when any one of Nancy, Dan, Yeardley or Julie dies. I think Hank and Harry should be included in that too, but awhile back they were prepared to move on without Harry, so who knows.

Only two things are eternal. The universe, and The Simpsons, and I'm not completely sure about the former.
